Rony Seikaly BIO

American basketball player Rony Seikaly was born in 1965 in Beirut, Lebanon. Rony spent his formative years growing up in Greece, attending Athens’ American School and excelling in a number of athletic pursuits, including volleyball, track & field, and soccer in addition to basketball. Seikaly first joined the Panathinaikos’ men’s team in the early 1980’s, until he left Greece for the United States, enrolling at Syracuse University as a student and basketball player.

 

After spending four years playing for the Syracuse Orange men’s team, Seikaly was drafted by the Miami Heat in 1988, becoming the franchise’s first college draft pick. Rony Seikaly has since gone on to become one of the era’s most talented basketball players, playing with the New Jersey Nets, the Orlando Magic, and also FC Barcelona in Spain. Seikaly retired from basketball and went on to pursue a career as an entrepreneur, producer, and DJ, returning to one of his earliest loves and passions - electronic music.

 

Seikaly had been DJ-ing since he was a teenager growing up in Athens, but following his retirement from basketball, he jumped full-force into a music career which has grown over the years. Rony Seikaly has released the album Nervous Nitelife Presents Rony Seikaly (2012) and the EPs: Subiminal Essentials Presents House Calls (2010), East West (2012), and Funk the Monk/MILF (2012.)
