Boston BIO

Boston is an American rock band formed by musician Tom Scholz, with their eponymous debut album releasing in 1975. Their debut became a huge success, with hits such as "More Than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind." The band's original lineup included Scholz, Delp, Goudreau, Masdea, and Fran Sheehan. However, Masdea quickly left the band before the first album's release, and Sib Hashian took his place. Boston's second album, Don't Look Back, was released in 1978, but Scholz was unhappy with the result, feeling it was rushed. The album still performed well, with the title track becoming a top-five hit.

Over the years, Boston has undergone several lineup changes, with Scholz being the constant member. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the band was involved in a lawsuit with CBS, which slowed down their progress. Despite this, Scholz continued to work on new material, and the band released their third album, Third Stage, in 1986. The album was a commercial success, with the lead single "Amanda" reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

In the following years, Boston released two more albums, Walk On in 1994 and Corporate America in 2002. The band also toured extensively and performed at various concerts. In 2007, the band's original lead vocalist, Brad Delp, passed away. A memorial concert was held in his honor, and the band has since continued to perform with new lead vocalists, including Tommy DeCarlo.

Today, Boston continues to perform and record music, with Scholz remaining the driving force behind the band. The current lineup includes Scholz, Gary Pihl, Curly Smith, Jeff Neal, Tommy DeCarlo, Tracy Ferrie, and Beth Cohen. The band has released six studio albums and has sold over 31 million records in the United States alone.

In addition to his work with Boston, Scholz has also founded Scholz Research & Design, a company that manufactures music equipment, including the popular Rockman amplifier. Scholz's innovative approach to music and technology has made him a respected figure in the music industry.

Boston's legacy continues to endure, with their music remaining popular among fans of classic rock. The band's iconic sound, characterized by Scholz's distinctive guitar playing and soaring vocal harmonies, has influenced many other artists and continues to inspire new generations of musicians.
