The rapper known as Flo Rida was born Tramar Lacel Dillard in 1976 in Carol City, Florida. Tramar grew up influenced by the music of his household; his parents and siblings all sang in a local gospel group and his brother-in-law worked as a promoter for 2 Live Crew. Dillard joined his first rap group when he was in middle school, but despite his youth he took the opportunity seriously and used it to hone his skills.
