Melissa Rycroft BIO

American television personality Melissa Rycroft was born in 1983 in Texas. Rycroft grew up in the Dallas area, where she studied dance as a child. After graduating from high school, Melissa went on to attend the University of North Texas, where she majored in marketing and initially planned to go into the business world for her profession.

Those plans were sidelined when Rycroft auditioned on a whim for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading team. Much to her surprise, she made the team, and went on to dance for them between 2006 and 2008. As part of her role as a team dance, she also appeared on the reality television series Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. But her biggest breakthrough came when Melissa was chosen as one of twenty-five bachelorettes to compete on the thirteen season of The Bachelor. Rycroft technically won the competition, being chosen by Jason Mesnick as his bride; the wedding was later called off when Mesnick chose an alternative competitor to marry.

Undeterred by the disappointment, Rycroft has since gone on to compete on Dancing with the Stars and to host other reality shows, such as Redneck Island and Bachelor Pad. Melissa Rycroft can also be seen on The CW’s morning show, “morning dose.” The show airs on some local CW stations at 5am.
