August Burns Red BIO

The American Christian metalcore band known as August Burns Red was established in 2003 in Manheim, Pennsylvania. The original founding members were still in high school when they formed the group and began playing various shows around the Lancaster area. Eventually, August Burns Red garnered the attention of major record labels, and after signing with CI Records, they entered the studio to record their first EP.


Looks Fragile After All was released in 2004 and was moderately successful, but after some changes to the lineup August Burns Red switched to Solid State Records to prepare their full-length album, Thrill Seeker, which arrived in 2005. The album was successful, but it was the band’s sophomore effort, Messengers, which became their big breakthrough, rising into the mainstream charts and earning the band significant critical acclaim.


Since that time, August Burns Red has released the additional albums: Constellations (2009), Leveler (2011), August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin’ Hill (2012), and Rescue & Restore (2013.) Notable singles from the band include: “Thirty and Seven,” “Indonesia,” “Empire,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “Spirit Breaker.” The band, described as metalcore with elements of thrash metal and progressive metal, continues to perform and record, and after numerous changes to the original lineup, now includes members: John Brubaker, Brent Rambler, Matt Greiner, Jake Luhrs, and Dustin Davidson.


Most recently, August Burns Red earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal Performance for their latest album release, Found in Far Away Places. The album arrived in 2015 and features the singles “Identity” and “The Wake.”
