The indie rock band TV on the Radio was formed in 2001 in Brooklyn New York by founding members and initial band members David Andrew Sitek and Tunde Adebimpe. TV on the Radio self-released its first album, OK Calculator, followed by the EP Young Liars, in 2003. Both were met with critical acclaim for the band’s catchy sound and appealing lyrics, reminiscent of everything from Earth, Wind & Fire to Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Four more studio albums have followed: Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes (2004), Return to Cookie Mountain (2006), Dear Science (2008), and Nine Types of Light (2011), in addition to the EPs Live Sessions (2007), Live at Amoeba Music (2007), and Read Silence (2009.) Notable singles from these albums include “Staring at the Sun,” “New Health Rock,” “Wolf Like Me,” “Province,” “Golden Age,” “Dancing Choose,” “Will Do,” and “Chemical Peels.” In 2005 the band added Kyp Malone, Gerard Smith, and Jaleel Bunton to the lineup, but sadly Gerard Smith passed away from lung cancer in 2011.

Today, TV on the Radio continues to perform and record with the current lineup of Adebimpe, Malone, Sitek, and Bunton, but frequently collaborates with a number of notable artists. Past contributions include those from David Bowie, Omega Moon, Martin Perna, Aaron Tites, Chris Taylor, David Bergander, Colin Stetson, Matana Roberts, and Priscilla Ahn. TV on the Radio most recently debuted its newest songs, “Mercy” and “Million Miles,” in 2013.
