Jason Jones BIO

The comedian and actor Jason Jones was born in 1973 in Ontario, Canada. Jones became best known for his work as a “correspondent” on the Comedy Central series The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, but long before he joined the show he grew up in Hamilton, where he attended a theater school and planned to one day work as an actor.

Jones’s earliest work was with The Bobroom, a Canadian sketch comedy troupe. Between 2002 and 2005 he also had small roles in the films Public Domain and Terminal Invasion, and he hosted Craft Corner Deathmatch for the Style Network.

Jason joined the cast of the Daily Show in 2005, where he worked alongside his wife, Samantha Bee. Within a short period of time, Jason had risen to full-time correspondent, to acclaim from both fans and critics alike.

In 2009, Jason Jones became part of the controversy which would eventually lead to the film Rosewater, directed by John Stewart. Jones had traveled to Tehran to cover the country’s presidential election for the Daily Show, and his coverage included an interview with Maziar Bahari, a journalist with the publication Newsweek. Bahari was ultimately imprisoned shortly thereafter, and the content from his interview with Jones was used against him during his interrogations. Jones also became well-known for his mock coverage of the Sochi Olympics in 2014, in which his parodies of Russian politics and culture also earned him some controversy.

In addition to his work on the Daily Show, Jason Jones has also appeared on the television shows Law & Order and Queer as Folk, and in commercials for Budweiser and Molson. Jones and his wife, Samantha Bee, are currently working on a new show, The Detour, scheduled to air on TBS.
