The famous Czech American tennis player Martina Navratilova was born in 1956 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Martina was raised mainly by her mother, who herself was an accomplished athlete, and following her parent’s divorce, Martina began to play tennis under the tutelage of her stepfather. Navratilova began playing tennis regularly when she was about seven.
