American baseball legend Tommy Lasorda was born in 1927. Lasorda made his major league debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1954, and went on to play for the Kansas City Athletics and the New York Yankees. He returned to the Brooklyn Dodgers to finish out his career, and following his retirement in 1997, Tommy Lasorda became a manager for the team.

Lasorda became the team’s “Vice-President” after his tenure as manager concluded, later becoming the team’s General Manager and then advisor to the team.
