George Forman BIO

The two-time World Heavyweight Champion George Foreman was born in 1949 in Marshall, Texas. Growing up as a child in Houston, young George idolized football players and boxers. Foreman struggled academically and after dropping out of school at the age of fifteen, he joined the Job Corps and moved to California. It was during this time in his life that he began to study and train as a boxer, a move which would change his life forever.

George Foreman’s career highlights include the two-time title of World Heavyweight Champion and a gold medal at the Olympics in 1968. Later on in his career, Foreman became an ordained Christian minister and he authored a number of books, but it was the George Foreman Grill which truly made the boxer a household name. Following a successful comeback in his career, Foreman publicly attributed his fitness to healthy eating. The company Russell Hobbs, Inc. caught an interview in which George touted the benefits of his diet, and selected him as a spokesman for the grill they were about to design and distribute. The rest, as they say, is history; George Foreman went on to contribute to the design of the grill, add his name to the product, and decades later he has earned more than 200 million dollars as a result of the endorsement, which is far more than he ever earned while boxing in the ring.

In addition to his success in his entrepreneurial endeavors, George Foreman served as a boxing analyst for HBO for twelve straight years, leaving the network in 2004.
