The Sheepdogs BIO

The Canadian rock band known as The Sheepdogs was established in 2006 by founding members Ewan Currie, Sam Corbett and Ryan Gullen. Currie and Gullen actually met in middle school, where they both participated in a local music program. Many years later, they met Sam Corbett while attending university in Saskatchewan, and the trio decided to form a band.

 

The Sheepdogs first released the EP The Breaks in 2007, followed by the self-released debut album, Trying to Go, in 2007. Both enjoyed some moderate success. The album The Sheepdogs’ Big Stand followed a year later, but it was the album Learn & Burn that became The Sheepdogs’ first breakthrough upon its release in 2010, rising to the number fourteen spot in Canada and earning The Sheepdogs not only a Rock Album of the Year Award at the annual Juno Awards, but also a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Prior to signing, The Sheepdogs had become the first unsigned band to grace the cover of Rolling Stone.

 

Since that time, The Sheepdogs have released the EP Five Easy Pieces, featuring the hit single “I Don’t Know,” and the album The Sheepdogs, which rose to the number one spot in Canada also reached the number twenty-three spot on the Heatseekers chart in the United States.
