The American country music singer Carly Pearce was born Carly Slusser in 1990 in Kentucky. Carly grew up in Taylor Mill, where she dropped out of school at the age of sixteen to perform at Dollywood. At the age of nineteen, she moved to Nashville, where she signed an initial deal with Sony Music.

The deal never really took off, but after she was chosen to be a featured vocalist on Josh Abbott Band’s “Wasn’t That Drunk,” her career began to take off. After the single reached into the top forty on the country charts, Carly—who had now changed her last name to Pearce—led to a career as a songwriter. A deal with Big Machine Records followed, and Carly entered the studio to prepare for her major label debut album.

The result, Every Little Thing, arrived in 2017 and on the strength of its title track, rose to the number four spot on the country charts in the United States. It also peaked in the top forty on the mainstream charts, and the single “Every Little Thing” fared even better, reaching the number one spot and confirmed Gold status. The song also earned Pearce a CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year and nominations from the ACM Awards for New Female Vocalist of the Year.
