Justin David Blau, known to fans as 3LAU, was born in Syosset, New York, on January 9, 1991. Hailing from an artistic family, he picked up piano and guitar at an early age, honing his musical talent even as a child. In his early teenage years, he relocated with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he attended high school at The Meadows School and later pursued a finance degree at Washington University in St. Louis. While on vacation in Sweden, Blau discovered electronic dance music and began producing mashups upon his return to college. His professional career launched under the moniker 3LAU and by June 2011, he was sharing his mashups on YouTube. Achieving recognition quickly, his tracks "Girls Who Save the World" and "All Night Long" found favor in the electronic music world. He also marked an early success with his remix of Tiesto's "Work Hard, Play Hard".
