Modeselektor BIO

The German electronic music group known as Modeselektor was established in the early 1990’s, when the individual members met up in Berlin. The time was filled with celebration and change, as the Berlin Wall had just been dismantled and new music, art, and culture was burgeoning in the city. Modeskeletor began making music in 1992 and continued to do so as a group for a number of years before they signed their first remix contract in 1999.

 

Modeselektor released its first music in 2002, with “Death Medley,” “In Loving Memory,” and “Ganes De Frau Vol. 1,” but the group’s debut album, Hello Mom!, didn’t arrive until 2005. The additional albums Happy Birthday! (2007), Moderat (2009), Monkeytown (2011), and II (2013) followed, featuring songs such as “Turn Deaf” and “The Dark Side of the Sun.” Modeselektor has also remixed music from a number of notable artists, including Bjork (“Dull Flame of Desire”); Roots Manuva (“Witness”); and Radiohead (“Good Evening Mrs. Magpie”.)

 

In recent years, Modeselektor has collaborated with the German artist Apparat under the name Moderat, to release the collaborative album II in 2013. Modeselektor continues to perform, mix, and record, with plans for additional albums and collaborations in the near future.
