Death Grips BIO

The hip-hop group known as Death Grips was founded in Sacramento in 2010 by members Andy Morin, Zach Hill, and Stefan Burnett. The group began recording music from the very first day, and within a year they’d released their debut, self-titled EP and the single “Full Moon (Death Classic.)” This was followed by the mixtape Exmilitary, which brought critical acclaim and recognition to the group, leading to a deal with Epic Records.

Death Grips signed with the label in 2012, and released their major-label debut, The Money Store, in the spring of that year. The album featured the hit singles “Lost Boys,” “The Fever (Aye Aye),” “Get Got,” and “Blackjack,” and paved the way for Death Grips’s sophomore endeavor, Government Plates, released in 2013. The album spawned the additional songs “@deathgripz” and “Birds.” In addition to their albums, Death Grips has a collection of remixes, called the Biopohilia Remix Series, which was released in 2012.

Most recently Death Grips launched its own label, Third Worlds, which will be working in partnership with Harvest/Capitol Records. The band has also returned to the studio to begin work on another studio album, and simultaneously Deaht Grips began its foray into film, writing and directing a feature for which the group will also compose the soundtrack.
