Tom Lagergren, Matoma, is an incredible DJ that falls under the ‘tropical house’ genre. Born and raised in Norway this guy puts an interesting spin on tropical house. Matoma is a producer and a DJ and has only been around since 2013. Growing up, Matoma learned how to play the piano like most other musicians, however he competed as a child and won multiple competitions for his insane piano skills. Something unique about Matoma is that he went to college in Norway and graduated with a degree in Music Technology.

At a young age Matoma was learning how to mix different sounds on the computer in order to create his own music. The program he was most familiar with was Cubase 8 Pro, computer software that enabled him to create music. Along with creating his own music he used other instruments to create sounds in the background as well. A famous remix that Matoma made was “When the Beat Drops,” in 2014 originally made by Marlon Roudette Booking Agent & Management" href="https://stage.onlinetalent.com/artist/r_b/Marlon_Roudette.php"> Marlon Roudette.

Another remix “Old Thing Back,” created by The Notouris B.I.G., and recreated by Matoma was topping the charts in Norway shortly after its release. Matoma was extremely popular back in Norway and his talents were soon to reach the rest of the world. Other artists such as Ja Rule, complimented Matoma on his talent for creating such unique and interesting remixes to other songs.

A popular song that Matoma created a great remix to is Enrique Iglesias Booking Agent & Management" href="https://stage.onlinetalent.com/artist/adult_contemporary/enrique-iglesias-.php"> Enrique Iglesias, “Bailando.” This song was already up beat and had you dancing, imagine what Matoma could do with something like that!?

See, Matoma’s talent was being able to take original songs and make them beat to his own drum. The songs were already amazing; Matoma just added a little bit of his personal touch to them.

Continuing with his successful remixes, Matoma was going to collaborate with Hedegaard to rework one of their singles to make it his own. “Happy Home,” was soon released in late 2014. Matoma also partnered with Nelsaan to create a remix to Marit Larsen’s song “I Don’t Want to Talk About It.” This was released by Waner Music Norway in 2014 as well.

In 2015 Matoma continued his successful remixes and came out with over thirty in total. These songs are available for free download on his SoundCloud page, and if I were you, I would get to it as soon as possible! Matoma’s music is not something you hear every day; it is unique and very special.

As of this year, Matoma is still creating amazing music, working with new artists such as The Vamps Booking Agent & Management" href="https://stage.onlinetalent.com/artist/pop/the_vamps.php"> The Vamps along with creating music videos as well. This new song, “All Night,” that Matoma is working on currently with The Vamps Booking Agent & Management" href="https://stage.onlinetalent.com/artist/pop/the_vamps.php"> The Vamps has yet to be released.
